Fourth Annual Warm Hearts Winter Drive Sets New Fundraising Record!

by Karlie Watts | Jan 16, 2019

Thank you to our clients, employees and community partners for making our fourth annual Warm Hearts Winter Drive a success! All of the generous donations are being distributed to over 50 nonprofit organizations whose mission is to provide support and essential resources to our neighbors in need during the cold and wet winter season. At the launch of our fourth annual Warm Hearts Winter Drive, we set an ambitious fundraising goal of $250,000 to directly support our local shelter partners who tirelessly advocate and care for those impacted by homelessness in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Together, because of the generous donations made by our community, we surpassed our goal by raising a total of $254,034! We also collected more than 6,000 new warm winter wear items to directly benefit over 50 partner organizations across the northwest.

“On behalf of the Tacoma Rescue Mission and other partner agencies throughout the Northwest, I heartily congratulate Columbia Bank and their employees and clients for raising more money than ever to help those experiencing homelessness,” said Duke Paulson, executive director of The Rescue Mission in Tacoma, Wash.

We were so inspired by the creativity and passion that our bankers and community members put to work to raise these funds. Over the course of the Warm Hearts Winter Drive, we encountered multiple acts of generous giving that resulted in additional support for families, children and individuals in need.

Powerful Partnership with the Portland Pickles

Our Clackamas branch has a long-standing partnership with the local Portland Pickles baseball team. Bill Stewart, one of the owners of the Portland Pickles, jumped at the chance to be involved with the Warm Hearts Winter Drive by giving everyone who made a donation at the Clackamas branch two ticket vouchers for a game in the 2019 season. The team from the Portland Pickles also donated more than $1,000 in sweatshirts, blankets, scarves and other merchandise. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to work with such a great organization!
